How high is too high? I've never cut any veggie for growing too much but I don't think it would hurt the plant.

the ones that escaped into the apple tree and set beans I needed a ladder to reach. Usually they reach the top of the cane and fall over on themselves.

I have my netting for the beans about 6-7' high but I find once they reach the top they reach out all over trying to find something to climb then just hang down with the weight of themselves but still produce lots of beans, it doesn't hurt the plants that I've seen. I guess if there is a tree around that would be a pain if they climb into it.

I've had instances where 3 or 4 will tangle together and reach out 3 to 4 feet. But, as noted they usually fall over and climb again.
