yes, heard they grow wild in their native habitat .
They also grow outdoors as garden plants, or occasionally as escapes, in other warm and temperate regions. For example, the photo posted above was taken along a road in Ventura Co., California. Euphorbia pulcherrima is native to warmer parts of Mexico and Guatemala.

I kept one growing for well over a year in an indoor windowsill box once, but it turned green and stayed green. In this country the colour is always 'forced' in some way.

They require long nights to initiate flowering. Perhaps, there was too much ambient light at night around the indoor window box.
I understand that the amount of long night exposure needed varies with cultivar and that temperature also plays a role.

For the most part, they need warm temperatures as they are tropical plants, but excessively high temperatures will also prevent flowering.
