On elf our pleached western red cedar trees looks dead. Leaves very dark and drooped and the flower bloom has gone black. Other trees all fine and green and healthy. Will it come back to life next year?

It's a goner and it may be because it was planted too deep in the ground. I can't see with the butane bottle there. If that's the same as the other two trees then I would say the dead one was buried too deep in the soil.

If under the bark it's dead, I would dig it up and get a good look at the soil and at roots and investigate what happened. If the root flair is not exposed properly the tree can suffocate in the ground.

Lastly If you send a soil sample to a soil lab where the tree was planted you may find out the soil is toxic from excess or lacking nutrients. Only a test could tell you.
