Is it true you may plant bulbs as closely as you prefer as long as the bulbs do not touch and enough room is provided for the blooms?

You can, but then beware, in a very sort time then, couple years, you may be looking to dig them up as they make babies under ground and get too tight then they don't bloom. I would plant them at least 4 inches apart, then you can at least relax for several years.

I have planted two different tulip bulbs close together that will flower in the same time period.
Tulip bulbs are different planted close, they in general don't last long, maybe 3-4 years so having to lift is not necessary. Its daffodils that continue expanding under ground.
