The principal house of a plantation in antebellum American South typically had two stories with very tall windows with a veranda across the entire front facade supported by two-story columns.

Dunleith is an antebellum mansion in Natchez, Mississippi.

At one time or another have been in most of the ones in Louisiana and Mississippi. Two other very nice survivors Nottoway and San Fransisco house.

San Fransisco is a miss understanding of the owners complaint that his wife was spending so much money on the house he was going broke. Sans fruscins or “without a penny in my pocket.”

In today's world of erasing and rewriting the past all of these are targets. All old and made of wood. Just like the monuments are the current target it only takes one going down making nation wide news before a new flame races across the south.

Liberty Hall is a plantation house near Camden, Alabama. The Greek Revival style main house was built in 1855 for John Robert McDowell.
