Has anyone come across this before? They keep appearing at the drainage holes at the bottom of my plants in the roots and soil there.

I don't know if you have them Aus. but it sure looks like root aphid eggs. Also, I don't know if you can get spinosad in Aus. Used as a drench it kills the adults but not the eggs. Beneficial nematodes are the go to choice for ridding the soil of eggs and young, but I don't know if you can get them either. If it is root aphids they will be all through the soil and will do great damage if not eliminated.

I am so grateful for this new insight! This certainly does seem to match the damage from the unidentified pest I’ve spent hours and days researching and treating unsuccessfully... Thank you!

Yes, it seems they are an introduced species, and only started appearing in fields in the rural areas of NSW about a decade ago.

Please, I would be very grateful if you could take a quick look at the photos at my previous post, especially those showing the sunken damage to the trunks of both my frangipani and my Jade Plant, as well as the video showing creepy-crawlies in the soil of my Jade plant (look like aphids?) See my thread here:

Could you tell me if they confirm your suspicion please??
