This looks to be the same pathogen that is affecting your mango, leaf spot, although in papaya it shows slightly different. Still caused by the soil staying too wet and the treatment the same.

Man I wish I could grow papaya! They sell them locally all over, but it's risky and I don't have a good spot for them or time to care for it if we get a cold snap. Love fresh papaya though!
