Looking for outdoor planters that work well on decks - preferably with these features:

* Plastic Composite (Rot resistant)
* Self-Watering (Keep manual watering to a minimum)
* Weather Resistant (Can deal with the outdoor elements)
* Deep (Can grow deep-rooted vegetables - minimum 12" planting depth)

Much appreciated.

So you are in Zone 10a, and it gets really hot but also an arid cold. I am thinking you need the mass of earth for mitigating the weather. It will get even hotter on a deck. I am going to suggest you size the planters to include something like rigid foam insulation. One way to do it is a slightly smaller planter inside a larger one.
