Plant your Naked Ladies (Amaryllis belladonna) at least a couple feet apart. The leaves will arch over at least a foot, if not more. If successful, each colony will spread. These South African, Mediterranean-climate bulbs will want sun and good drainage. They need some water from Fall to Spring, when flowers, and later, leaves will appear. However, they will benefit from dry rest in Summer. They usually can tolerate occasional summer water, but if your climate has a very rainy summer, take extra precautions for sharp drainage or grow in a large container that can be moved under cover.
