Wish there were more rain. But no! And now it is cloudy and thankfully not too cold.

I have agastache coral. I bought a black Adder over the weekend. Quite distinctive. I dug up all my heurcheras and will plant them at the back and remove all the ivy.

I often wonder how people in Lancashire and Cornwall cope with slugs. Now I understand why Carol K is so generous with her grits. She uses them like no tomorrow.

Good morning to a fairly bright day. Just read that they have 43c in certain parts of US. And I moan about 36c! How do you water in such extreme heat?

Thank heavens for the cloudy icons

I have ordered one with Cayeux for iris and another from Norfolk Herbs. It's hard working trying to get these people to deliver. It's nearly 15 days. No news. I have emailed them TWICE!

It's so pathetic to capture these dainties, fairies .. They are just so small and yet so lovely!

Morning , another rainy wet day  again . Thanks for the nice gesture alp (y) it doesn't seem any different though with already living in the house, probably do some decorating and other home improvements my dad always refused to spend money on the house because he always said it weren't his which I suppose was true .

Slugs and snails here you look the other way and don't plant anything to tasty for them in the ground otherwise your a slave to slug hunting which you can't keep up with when the weather like this. I do try and get away with dahlias in the ground now and again but I grow majority in pots . Any plant which has a potential to be munched like helenium / echinacea / rudbeckia etc are grown on into larger to withstand the onslaught.

One day I am going to build a pond at the top of the garden, I've been thinking about it for a few years but now it set in concrete with owning the house , when the garage is unfit / rotting and I have more funds to buy a new garage to put on the garage site ( next to the house ) and then build a pond and plant it up , I'd love to have a cornus controversa top left of the garden just overhanging the pond :). I'll have more frogs etc then to eat the slugs .

Wow! So much has happened. Zenj's handiwork is simply amazing! Professional work and I thought you told me you were an engineer!?

Such healthy good looking plants. The lilies are dazzling, just as Perki said.

I think all three of us have now now agastache Black Adder! Snap, snap, and snap again! Wonder if @DrCase has one! Join the gang, DrCase!

I have had overcast clouds - just the thought of someone else pinching my rain is enough to make me cry! I still have slugs. Just now I killed 2 dozen eggs and a mother who dared to lay eggs in my bamboo pots. I watered, watered and watered and still haven't finished finishing. Some plants are so stressed that they look dying and some have died.

I also bought from World seeds and all my iris seeds x 2 turned out to be sweet peas and the erythronium died because of lack of water. Bought some bulbs from C .. and I actually have flowers this year.

I have a bonfire now and then and dust the area most susceptible to slugs and snails. But can't go too heavy on it.

Zenj - That's a good looking pond! I have frogs hopping around, but they don't bother my slugs ..

Perki - Remember to enjoy life a bit. Like me, you're too grounded. No celebration for birthdays, no celebration for becoming a home owner. You are A HOME OWNER! Your house is secured and you can do what you like, buy that Cornus Controversa Invariegata and site it in a permanent place and dig your pond. Mine is still alive and I wish I hadn't killed Miss Satomi. Our stint on earth is so short. I wish I were young. I am sure you feel much more settled now that the house, and garden and greenhouse are all yours.

I must take some cuttings of my Rubra as I really love the lantern-like flowers! So much better than the big blousy ones!

I must send both of you some ensata iris seed pods. They will love your conditions.

It's going to be grey all day here! I love the respite from the sun!

Warning: This beauty if ORANGE!

SAM_0343.JPG

Wish you were here to appreciate its orange flavour!

Amistad is so striking. Behind it, there are Rudbeckia Lacinatas, some bought and some raised from seeds. Some Incarnatas from seeds, one sanguisorba Bordeaux bought from Beeches in Saffron Walden. Further on are Eupatorium x 2 varieties. Some delphiniums in front (all from seeds) Sadly, I haven't had Alan T's pockets or power, they are still growing. But I won't miss the chance or experience to nurture them.

One hot day today.

Screen Shot 2020-07-17 at 05.55.58.png

I more or less planted out all my dahlias and am looking forward to seeing them in their full glory!

Went to freegle something and asked a lady for some Lacecap hydrangea cuttings. She generously obliged. Very nice of her. I keep seeing them in people's front garden and they are lovely. Much better than the mop head ones.

Melon - hopefully Piel de sapo Melon and now the tendrils are threatening to reach out for the road. I have to grow them here as it is guaranteed to be hot with concrete and this expensive thick wall of nasty neighbour. One night around Christmas, I was woken up with an almighty bang around 3am. I looked out and saw neighbours outstanding and their daughter holding a car number plate. This wall is the result. Very expensive wall!

Have to say - I love my old camera! Who wants to hold a brick while taking photos? Also, the sensor seems to let in more light.

Good morning

A cooler day, after yesterday's heat which lingered until 8pm. Had a pizza which made me very thirsty. Some food even make you angry. Thirsty is another sign that there are some undesirable addictives.

Freegled a blue water butt, without lid again.

Finally, Norfolk Herbs delivered and it was amazing good packaging. A whole big box and the plants are compartalised with flowers in most. Very pleased. Shame some labels are missing and there is no printout as to what I had ordered. But on the whole, very pleased with the plants.
