Well I did eventually visit harlow carr it rained on me as well on the way there  at least I were blown dry when I got there, very disappointed that they didn't have the hellebore I wanted or remotely any hellebores on their plant list , I am starting to think its plants in the garden not in the plant shop.

I did go and have a visit around the garden , not much in the woodland area but for cyclamen and cochicums which were mostly flattened . Grass were looking very good but most of the flowering perennials have gone over.

Snap! Perki! We both visited RHS flagship gardens! Had a look at Longacres, the one that you want is gone. But Farmyard had something very exciting. Have a look, you will see the new stuff they have. I am sooooo tempted.

Thank you for uploading these photos - they remind me exactly of what I had visited, but my photos somehow couldn't capture the essence of the garden, probably because my camera tried very hard to be panoramic! Lovely photos! I remember every single one of the features you have captured - the square pond, the big lake with the chair .. and the big boulevard.

Yes, not really a good time to visit these trophy gardens, but needs must as son wants to visit NT more than RHS flagships. 3 things spoilt my day - wet shoes, stinking cold and most IMPORTANT areas fenced off. On top of that, it was grey, grey and yet more grey. After we left 1pm, the sun came out.

Salvias came up on top. Most of them are still flowering very happily - exactly as some weather warming trend suggests

The Scadoxus is lovely. I had it once and it flowered. Second time I plunged my fork into it and it was no more. It's just lovely! Always love it. Andy Murray couldn't believe his win! Very touching! So much hard work and physical hardship he has to endure. Imagine sitting in that ice cold bath!

What a polyculture garden looks like
The onions interplanted sporadically keep away a number of pests Nothing is concentrated enough to attract a plague of specialized agricultural pests
The loss of one crop to disease or pests is not catastrophic (so the system is resilient)
There is always something blooming for the bees

Good morning - such a cold day on Sunday and today. I could feel the chill yesterday as well.

1571724162263.png

As long as the sun is out, it will be lovely.

Bought some seeds and followed some instructions to soak them for 24 hours and half of the seeds floated on top of the little tub at the end of the day. Emailed seller who turned very nasty. If you see seed and world in title as independent seller, don't go there!.

On the other hand, bought some seeds from fleabay and the prices were already very cheap, but the top of page said REQUEST TOTAL, so I did. No response. I paid for 2 and the platform kept sending threatening emails for paying for the 3rd one. In the end, the lady was very nice. She told me that it could be cancelled and sent the last one to me for free. I felt rotten as she really didn't have to do that. Bought some black mulberry seeds which never arrived, but I gave a positive feedback by mistake, confusing it with Chilean Guava seeds. Now I had no recourse.

Strictly Come Dancing's Will Bayley is amazing - So glad that he has a career, despite his disability. Moved Nadya and many others to tears. Yesterday I watched Storyville doc, The PM, the Playboy and the Wolf of Wall Street - BBC. It was brilliant. All these idiots trapped in worshipping money, diamond, champagne and plundered taxpayers; money by moving it to a shell company and tapping into it whenever the PM wanted to buy posh properties or the wife wanted to buy jewellery, boxes of shoes and of course, jewellery! Glad that the PM was charged. The parallel between the film which was funded by the playboy who tapped into Malaysian taxpayers' dough is striking! Really admire people who have the bravery to challenge these ruling greedy guts.

Hopefully, I will get all my plants today. I'm going to have trays of seeds throughout the winter. My thalictrums are already showing their beautiful heads.

These must be record holders

It was such a lovely day yesterday. Sun shining and nice and warm and dry! But I spent 2 hours trying to sleep off my cold as my chest started to tighten up when I coughed! I think I'm probably over the worst. Please keep away from nasty cold viruses as they could be very debilitating and demoralising.

Whoa! 6c!?

Fiinally, got my hand on an erythronium Snowflake.. A plant, not some silly seeds. The man even sent a sweet Walker toffee with customised tape with his name all around the box. Nice and funny touch! If only he had reduced his last Romneyi Coulteri, my life would have been perfect! I bought some silly seeds instead. Hopefully, it's not a 5 or 7 years' affair!

Now these are all my flowers. This is the first flower of a dahlia clump at home! A deer antler cacti dahlia and apparently my garden is now full of these babies!

Woke up too early. Only 4am!

It rained yesterday, but not serious. I planted out my crocus delivery. Son is still struggling building up the cold frame with pellet bits.

Will take more of these today. Penstemons are very good and will flower probably till November! One of the best for late colours.

Braced for more rain and storms

'Lives at risk' as storms bringing 60mph gales and a month's worth of rain are forecast to batter Britain
  • Winds of 60mph and 4in of rain forecast across Wales and northern England
  • Weather warnings have been issued for most of Wales along with Cumbria
  • Met Office: ‘Rain is expected to arrive across parts of the UK during Friday'
Let's hope we are all safe. Rains and storms are with us nearly every week!

Watched the last episode of GW and saw this man talking up biochar! Might be able to make some during guy fawkes. Just too messy and anti-social.

Yesterday, I divided one of my Helenium Mardi Gras into another 6 more.

Apparently, squirrels have been busy planting as well!

SAM_1649.JPG
SAM_1650.JPG

I also took cuttings of Salvia Black and Blue as last year I had to buy a new plant. I won't let that happen to me again.

Next year, I will try to plant my heleniums, rudbeckias and others in drifts or en masse whilst learning NOT to buy new plants!

I might run for PM soon! LOL! Read this and be warned - world politics is BLEAK, to say the least!

Just for a laugh, please watch this! I know how it feels! I exercise the same way it does! It's tough, exercise! o_O

Woke up early again!

1572059797896.png

Going to be raining!

Went to the allotment and heard a lot of drill noise, saw a van with two young men who were making raised bed frames. They told me that their boss got an allotment and it had been covered with bramble and they cleared it and later I went to have a look. Yes, all flat with a weed suppressing membrane on top and then about 8 raised bed frames! No messing about. I wonder if they were going to sow for their boss again! Apparently, the boss owns a building company! Useful neighbours to have!

Penstemon is so happy in the allotment - lots of stems and flowers. Much better than at home!

Also did a lot of cuttings - took some thornless raspberry stems from an allotmenteer;

cuttings from a wiegela variegated.

more cuttings from my Veronne's Obsidian.

After cutting the heads off the carrots, i planted the heads in the soil again and I am sure the rain today will help.

Cuttings from Bahamas Aster.

Removed the hypericum above and planted it outside along the busy road.
