Help!! My lucky bamboo I’ve had for about four years first turned yellow, and I neglected to remove it as the stalk was still firm, but now the base has turned red! I have never heard of/seen this happen before. Does anyone know whats going on or the cause? I suspect it may be a fungus since it has also developed some curious black dots.

I have never raised that plant, but following good horticultural practice I would separate the healthy green ones from the off colored ones. Then examine the green ones for any bugs or fungus. If nothing is present wash the plants and container and put them back as they were. Take the sick ones and isolate them from the green ones and see if they recover. Good luck.

Are you using unfiltered tap water when you water your plant?

Unfiltered tap water can contain chlorine which is bad for Lucky Bamboo, it usually causes browning like that.

I recommend separating the brown parts and switching to filtered water!
