Is it a sweetbay magnolia?

This tree is growing in the woods, is probably 15-20ft tall (I'm not sure), is evergreen, and I've never seen flowers or seeds on it. The picture below was taken in May, and the leaves are somewhat tough and thick. Could it be a sweetbay magnolia?
