They are Christmas cactus, they just fiddle with blooming time so they can sell them more often. It is the EXACT same plant, not a different variety at all, so, yes, the store is correct.

They bloom whenever conditions are right for them to bloom.

@big rockpile is absolutely correct 👍...there are significant differences between a Thanksgiving cactus and a Christmas cactus...and not just blooming.

"The Thanksgiving cactus (Schlumgera truncata) has very pointed and claw shaped projections on the edges of the leaf. The Christmas cactus (Schlumgera bridgesti) has leaf projections which are more scalloped or tear drop shapeday "

Furthermore:

Stems

Thanksgiving cactus stems have sharp, pointed edges, while Christmas cactus stems are smooth and scalloped.

  Flowers

Thanksgiving cactus flowers are asymmetrical and hang down from stems that arch downward, while Christmas cactus flowers are more symmetrical and present more vertically.

  Bloom time

Thanksgiving cactus usually starts blooming in November, but Christmas cactus starts blooming in late November before Christmas.

  Flower color

Thanksgiving cactus flowers can be red, pink, orange, or white, while Christmas cactus flowers are usually purplish-red. Yellow is a rare variety of Thanksgiving cactus flower.
