Is this Wasabi?

I live in San Rafael California and this year this plant has been exploding all over the back yard. I have the app plant snap on my iPhone and it keeps coming back with the same result. Eutrema Japonicum, wasabi.

My question is, isn’t this really hard to grow outside of Japan? I have a Japanese garden in the front and back yard and have never planted it. But it’s possible the previous owner did.

We had a pretty bad drought followed by a few seasons of really intense rain with moderate summers.

Is this really wasabi? If so I love wasabi!

Wasabi (Japanese: ワサビ, わさび, or 山葵, pronounced [waꜜsabi]) or Japanese horseradish (Eutrema japonicum[3] syn. Wasabia japonica)[4] is a plant of the family Brassicaceae, which also includes horseradish and mustard in other genera. The plant is native to Japan and the Russian Far East[1] including Sakhalin, as well as the Korean Peninsula.[5]: 133  It grows naturally along stream beds in mountain river valleys in Japan.
