How I prevent fungus gnats..

I had problems with fungus gnats and this winter before I bring my sweetie tree inside, I treated it with nematodes and put 2” playsand. I then use a funnel to water it. So far this big pot has no fungus gnats..

Good thread. I used sand on top of soil block in the past and now that youve reminded me of this solution and Ive started using capillary matting for my indoor growing area which eliminates top watering, it makes perfect sense to use sand on my pots. Ive got about 30 lbs of the stuff on hand.

@Rey thanks for the heads up. I'm adding this to tomorrow's to do list right now

LOL I am glad someone else was doing this, I thought this was weird thing to do and dont know if this is bad for the plant.
