What is the best homemade seed starting mix and can you add store bought manure and compost?

Generally, greenhouse growers use peat moss for seed starting. Its a lightweight compound that will give the seeds all that they need nutritionally during their early stages of growth. Don't let it dry out though, it will be more difficult to keep it moist if you do.
