Hi everyone.

I'm new to squashes and I was wondering if I could get your help.

This is the Marina do Chioggia squash and I was wondering if this is close to harvest or if I need to wait longer. How can I be certain it's okay to remove the squash?

This one is nearly 16 inches across.

The winter squash I've dealt with will usaully starts out as one color and then changes to another color. I could harvest then but if you leave it on the vine for a while so the skin gets tough, it will keep longer, for example the Waltham Butternut that I grow.

You can't go by the size of the squash. I go by when the skin gets hard enough that I have a very hard time of indenting it with my thumbnail. Also, the stem is dry and looks dead, no more green color.. Yours has awhile to go.
