Hi there, I'm a novice gardener, and here in the hope that I may from time to time ask for help.

I was medically discharged from the Army in October 2011 so hadn't really had the opportunity to do any gardening thankfully for some unknown reason, I started messing about in my garden about 4 weeks ago and it would appear I have caught the bug!

Now i am the proud owner of a greenhouse albeit a plastic one which I purchased from Homebase, I actually wanted a real one but I'm starting slowly, so this one will do for now.

Look forward to meeting you all.

Regards,

Dave

Hello Dave!!!! I've just been looking at your message on the old RHS forum.
I've been here a week now & enjoying it very much. There are a few other RHS refugee names you will recognise too.

Hi Dave, welcome aboard! :)

You've caught the gardening bug just at the right time - spring will soon be upon us (well, once the snow clears!)...

Hello again Ian,

I'm glad to report that I am still to be hit with snow, it's -1 outside but no snow yet, I've got my greenhouse to a steady 10 degrees and already things are coming through, including Dahlias, Viola's, Radish, Aster's and Tomato seedlings, all in the greenhouse, outside I have recently planted, Apple and Cherry trees, a blackberry plant, Blueberry and last but not least I have some strawberry plants on the go.

So yep the bug has taken over my life lol.

Be prepared for the crazy questions

Regards,

Dave

Hello and welcome aboard Dave! :) Gardening can certainly prove to be an addictive hobby, so you've come to the right place! Sounds like you are off to a great start with your greenhouse.

Hi Becky,

Coming from the Army I'm not used to people being nice and polite to me, ski will definately be hanging around!

I have only just come in from chopping wood that I cut off a nasty tree in the garden which keeps the sun when it appears lol, I like the fact that it allows me to have a good workout free of charge!

I'm not too sure what to do with all this wood I've cut any ideas?

As always, best regards,

Dave

If you lived near me, i'd have it off you for firewood:D

You could stack it in a quiet corner & watch the wildlife take it over. It'll become a haven for bugs & fungi over the years & maybe a place for hedgehogs to hang out.

Or if you need it gone, stick it on your local freecycle group, someone will have it:)

Hi Zigs,

My mate has offered me the use of his shredder, so my plan is to shred it all up and use it for a path near my raised bed, my I love this gardening lark ha ha!!!
