Sauted spinach over easy over fried eggs. Love spinach like that. My plate is part of the set I bought when I was 18 years old. Knock wood none of the set broken. Selected the simple look to go with whatever table cloth and utensils.

Oh now you're just being fancy 😁

I've got most of a 12 setting Currier and Ives set for special occasions. My grandmother gathered the pieces as part of a grocery store customer rewards program. I'm missing a big serving platter and teapot but have extra of some smaller pieces.

Oh, today's my birthday so for the party Saturday I'm getting a lahbstah. Red potatoes and corn on the cob. Son is getting a steak and the wife and girlfriend are doing shrimp.

Supposed to be cool and raining so a boil or steam sounds really good.

I use my China daily. Just never got into the China cabinet look. The cupboard they are in is glass front in the kitchen, but can be viewed from the dining room. They are also joined by a set from his grandparents of white with silver rim and tiny pink roses on the rim. They talk to each other nicely.

I'm protective of mine as a family heirloom. We have cheap plates for daily use. And cheap utensils. Of course now that the kids are gone we have less worry about things getting broken or thrown out by mistake.

Going to estate sales and seeing boxes of China just on the lawn waiting for bidding or other items that I know the women of the house saved it for good, or company taught me to use now. Used to work as a social worker,/ admission director in a nursing home. Children would just box things to the street. I know with my China set I never use the cup and saucers , goofy to me, need a mug. BTW have a neat set boxed up in the Attic, occupied Japan on the back, been there 25 years, kn a fluke got at an auction, even has a matching ladel with it.

Yeah there's an overabundance of China on the market. Many kids buy their own rather than wait for parents or grandparents to pass them along.

I do check yard sales and flea markets to see if I can find my missing pieces. I did find a teapot and platter on a camping trip in West Virginia but the wrong color.

Sure you know about the online missing China and crystal site. forgot what it is. But was not hard to find, just google.

My mother in law, passed about 15 years ago, she had a set she put out for holidays ect. it was pretty but as I had enough did not need it. One of the siblings took the dining room table, chairs and china cabinet when the house was getting ready to sell. I have asked a few what happened to her China set, who has it, (just curious), no one knows.

Similar story here and time frame even. I ended up being executor of my father's estate and my grandparents in the same summer. Couldn't save it all so I kept grandma China and dad's dining set.

Also many of grandma kitchen appliances. Some dating from the 50s. Most of it still functions hut could use repairs. Newer cords to replace the fabric insulation and such.

The rest went to charity or yard sale or dumpster.

Yep, @Ruderunner , my husband was the executor of his parents' estate, Some stuff also to auction houses, some to goodwill etc. I stayed out of it all as there are 3 siblings Adults. We still have his parents living room furniture in our unfinished basement covered with sheets for 10 years now taking up space that I could use otherwise. He gets defensive if I bring up getting it out, he thinks it is basement type stuff should we ever finish the basement. SMH. I just move on. If he dies before me, the junk guys will be called first thing to get it all out.

Still got some Crown Prince squashes from last Autumn - have stored well over winter and now have a sweet and rich flavour. Experimenting with ideas to use them as normally just grill in slices. Grated a piece today and grilled/baked in oven with cheese and a slice of ham on toast - sprinkle of paprika. Yummy!

Soup. Purred squash, apples, onion, ginger, cumin, add chicken broth to thin out some. Yummy.
