Fiddle leaf fig - root growing in the saucer

I have this fiddle leaf, which was doing very well. After a while the top leaves were not growing as much and with brown spots (photo). I changed it to a bigger pot and fixed the watering frequency.
Now I checked my plant and there’s a big root (photo) growing from the bottom of the pot, into the saucer (which had water but wasn’t touching the pot).
My question is
Should I cut this root? Or repot the plant and keep this root?
Thank you

You can cut it off, it won't hurt the plant. What size pot is it in now? Looking at how tall it is, I would think something around 14" should be sufficient for awhile. It looks like it's in a perfect spot light-wise.
