Since the climate is getting warmer, we have decided to plant a tall native shade tree in the front yard to help cool the house.
This site gets full sun from about 6 am to 3:30 or 4:00 pm. What would you all recommend? Thank you.

Hickory. The soft fast ones come down fast or break, but if a hickory comes down folks will come get the wood for cooking. Oaks get big fast too, and spread pretty wide. I prefer a mottled shade, like cherry for plants underneath. Are you talking 80 feet high?
