Disclaimer: If you do not have the mental fortitude to say "No" to jewelry and blouses and coffee cups and websites asking for donations, do not read this thread. Well... you can read the thread, but for your own safety, do not click any of the links. Oh! And before you scroll to the bottom, looking for that "Report" button - I have already reported myself!!
smiley-taunt002.gif

First, I would like to say that I don't like spammers. Any time I see someone who has joined the forum for the purpose of peddling their wares, it irritates me. I report them. For that reason, I have hesitated to start this thread.

However, I am not a new member, and I have nothing to sell you.

I have found a couple sites that are using advertisers to do some good in the world. (I am a supporter of doing good in the world.) It's my opinion, but I feel this is fair. The advertisers want my money, I have found a way to take theirs!! I feel that I am already barraged by advertisement on almost any page I visit on the web. I think I can put up with some more to accomplish good things.

If you click these links, they load to a page with a banner at the top that says, "Click here - it's FREE!" Once you click that banner, you have to let the next page fully load or it won't count it. (Both of the pages will subject you to advertising and requests for donations. :cautious:.)

Be strong, my friends!! (y)

All the links work the same. Click the link, load the page, click the banner, load that page, don't buy anything. Halfway down the second page is information telling you what's been bought with your click.

This link leads to protecting wildlife habitat in the rain forest. If you are interested in their progress:

Today's clicks have funded the value of 567,173.0 square feet of land.* Thank you!
When you click, we display ads from our site sponsors. 100% of the money from these advertisers goes to our charity partners, who fund programs to protect rain forest habitat for wildlife

Oceana: This one is easy! There is no advertising. Step one - watch a short video, step two - answer a question about the video, step three is click #3. It's foolproof, the question is visible under the video! Once you do this, GreaterGood will fund the protection of 11.5 square feet of vital wildlife habitat. (It states this is only available for a limited time, so if the link quits working, then the time was up.)

Additional disclaimers and other possibly pertinent information:

There are other links across the top of each page to click if you want your click to donate to various other charities. These are the ones I click, maybe another will be more important to you. If this thread is allowed to stay, and you want to post a link to others, feel free.

Because I only live in the US, I have no idea if these links are valid for anyone outside of the US.

I will now report myself.

MaryMary, there are so many ways people can do good in this world, even people who can't venture out or volunteer, or donate from their limited funds.
We grow vegetables for the local food pantry, donate to the local animal shelter, give flowers and small gifts to a local nursing home's residents who don't have family or resources. If we ever get to the point where we can't do this, we will find another way to help others (human and animals). Your links have helped us understand there are so many ways to be helpful, generous, and kind. Thank you!

I agree with this way. I would never throw a coin into a beggar's bowl, especially those with dogs!

@marlingardener, as a result of your thread, Vegetables for all I have decided that I will take some of my peonies to the local nursing home this spring. It's a thing I can do, so why not? (y)

Since it is winter, I am spending a lot more time inside. That means a lot more time at the computer. I probably "waste" at least 10 minutes a day watching funny cat or dog or bird videos on YouTube. My new personal rule is to click the links before I go to giggle at YouTube.

And I admit, there is a small, vindictive part of me that really enjoys clicking the links and making them donate their money, all the while knowing I will never buy a thing! :sneaky:

Take that for your pop-up ads!!

@DirtMechanic, the notice that they donate 100% is on the second click.

There are advertisements on the first page, too... the one you have to load to get to the "Donate" page. But if you scroll to halfway down the second page, they show you not only what the clicks have bought for that day, but the past week, as well. (y)

Advertising must be so challenging these days. I cannot even keep my shop organized much less consider what must be involved with that many websites.

Peony is OK, but make sure you don't take your ants with you, @MaryMary !:shame:

Have to try to use one of the emojis in the extended section. They all look quite sinister!
