Majestic palm long heap of brown stuff

Hope someone can help, I tried google to no avail. Two big potted palms growing well. On the top of the coconut fibre there regularly is a pile of soil like particles. I have has a minor problem with brown scale which is nearly fixed.

Thanks for your reply, it is solved I will take an image of my 41 year old son.. I was just saying to my son about the problem, and he has been putting used tea leaves on top of the coconut mulch. The monkey

That`s kids for you. As you can see I am in the UK.... some years ago I bought my own son a one way ticket to Oz and dared him to come home. He is still up there in Queensland - Murphy`s Creek, trying to save up for another ticket.
