I bought some vidalia onions from my local grocery store here in Southeast Coastal Georgia and they quickly sprouted. The temperatures are in the mid 90s, so I'm wondering if I can plant this onion in the ground now, or will it be too hot for it?

Growing onions from an onion is a great way to use those that have sprouted.

The onions shown below are from last year's onion crop that sprouted in storage and planted in the winter. They looked just like the onion in the op's photo when planted in December.

These small bulbs will not store long and most will be chopped and frozen for use in cooking later.

Don't throw out the sprouted ones but if in season, plant them.
