Can anyone tell me what kind of tree this is??

My family and I recently moved into a new home. In the front yard are these two beautiful trees. I am trying to learn but as of now I know very little about gardening or Horticulture in general. Can anyone tell me what kind of trees these are? And should I be trimming them? They appear to have multiple sprouts sticking out all over the place and seem like they would look better if they were trimmed up. But I don't want to do anything that would damage them so I've come to the experts.

Where do you live? This is pretty much critical information if you want feedback. Big difference in the US between, say, Alaska and Hawaii.

Some sort of locust tree, maybe?

This is difficult. I am not sure. Possibly a type of Willow (Salix sp.).

It would be great to get more information, if the Original Poster is able and willing to reply after five years...
