King Leopold Ii of Belgium conceived the idea of constructing a greenhouse complex using steel and glass at the Royal Palace of Laeken in 1868.

That's absolutely beautiful. And I love Belgium and the Belgian people, but Leopold II has serious blood on his hands for what he facilitated in the Congo Free State.
