Six pots of Jade Cross Brussels Sprouts have been growing under my new LED system for 16 days. The grow is spectacular and exhibits the efficiency of LED lamps. This cultivar has tight buds and grows exceedingly well in my Zone 5. They will be planted outdoors about 1 May 2017. The cultivar can withstand some frost.

One problem with sprouts is that, if planted too early, the sprouts can "blow".
They look impressive, and I wish you luck, but have you delayed planting to compensate, or is "blowing" not a worry?

Absolutely no problem with Jade Cross a hybrid, but misery with some others which I planted last year They were dreadful. I usually buy the small plants but last year they were not available so I took what I could get. This year no chances so I bought the seeds. I have grown Jade Cross for about seven years and they are always perfect. My only misery is the white butterfly laying eggs. I always have to wash them off or spray some concoction.

Dilute molasses makes the leaves difficult for many pests to digest.
I too grow a hybrid, "Montgomery F1", as it's my wife's favourite for flavour.
I have to pick from the bottom, the first quarter of the sprouts as it is quite an early cultivar, but the rest can usually stand until Christmas, when they are fully harvested, the surplus being blanched and frozen.

Eight Brussels Spouts (Jade Cross) were plant3d outdoors. They were in the greenhouse in individual pots developing strong roots. They were grown from seed, started under a LED lamp. Jade cross is a perfect sprout and grows well in my garden. A plastic cage was installed to deter the odd rabbit until the plants get large.
