Esther, in the almost 10 years we have lived here, we have seen one squirrel. They stick to the pecan orchards down the road. The Red-wing Blackbirds, grackles, and even the Brewers blackbirds sit on the seed feeder and swing back and forth, and empty out the platform feeder quickly.
When we lived in town we had squirrels because we had a huge pecan tree. I learned to think of squirrels as bushy tailed rats!

We have squirrels. My plight is fix feeders so the squirrels leave them alone. I think you might have bigger birds also, than us. I large birds are meat eaters, not seed eaters. Since my three good male cats went to heaven there are more squirrels also.
