Does anyone know what's wrong with the tip of the leaves (dents/bite marks)? I'd just like to know if it's bite marks or too much sunlight or a fertilising issue. I keep it by a north facing windowsill.

Your plant is ready for soil. Keeping it in water for a long time will bronze the leaves.

I've never grown avocadoes but I've seen that before in other sprouting plants. The leaves can get a little damage on the tips sometimes as they emerge and that happens, basically a scar that gets more evident as the leaves grow larger.
