When I bought this property there were several apple trees in various states of distress. I pruned and dug the root bases out since most were planted too deep. I fertilized and mulched them with composted manure and wood chips. This spring they exploded with flowers and were looking great. I didn’t spray them for fear of harming the honey bees on the blossoms. As soon as the blossoms and bees were gone I started spraying with orchard spray. It must have been too late. Two of the trees are covered with cedar apple rust. Since I probably have a couple thousand Eastern Red Cedar (Juniperus Virginiana) I am hoping that the rust won’t attack them in the future. For now it looks like my horses will have a lot of treats. :grumpy:

My Becky was telling me something about cedars and fruit trees not being good companions. I will ask her about that again now that you mentioned it.
