Anyone know what this is?

We cannot tell if this is potentially something coming up from last year or if it is one of these shrubs potentially branching out? Posted the second picture just to give a sense what is around it.

I don't know much about flowers but that looks like some sort of flower and not one of those bushes to me.

Agree, just hate to wait and then it turn out to be one of these bushes. These bushes and crape myrtle spread like wild fire.

I agree with YumYum, I think it's a separate plant and not linked to the hedge.
