Any ID on what's having a go at my chilli leaves?

Hi all,

can anyone ID what's causing the spots/holes in this chilli plant's leaves? First appeared a few days ago (Sydney, Australia). Can't see any caterpillars etc but that doesn't mean they're not there. Any suggestions gratefully welcomed. Stay safe all, Mark

Do some or all of those white spots rub off are or they places where something removed the "skin" of the leaf. It looks like the beginning of a scale insect attack but I can't magnify enough to make sure. If you can take a close up picture of the leaf at the 5 o'clock position. Those white spots look too uniform to be actual damage. They look more like the insect itself.
