4 pound onion

Yes, its true...we grow them bigger in Texas.

This one is soaking wet, still has the tops attached and has some dirt on it...but even at that its easily a 4 pounder. This is a short day 1015 variety planted last Nov. and pulled today.

I see some "blooming onions" in our near future, LOL.

Did they sell the sets locally or were you down there. The only sets we get here are in January.

January is way too late to plant them here...many/most will bolt if planted that late.

Sets are dug in the Valley usually in early Nov. ... but were a couple of weeks late this year because of wet weather...and sold in feed stores all over Texas and probably elsewhere.

Here in Bandera the only place to get onions is the hardware store and it only sells transplants. Our so called feed store only sells feed and tack. I've grown a lot of 1015's from transplants but never a 4 pounder
