12’ dry rooted silver birch

My son in law dug up 4 x 12 feet high silver birch ( might be river birch) and planted them at the bottom of my garden. They were quite dry rooted and the soil in my garden is heavy on clay. He put in plenty of well rotted manure and also put plenty on top. Will they survive?
