This is a large deep clear plastic tub that I'm going to grow my 1st batch of beets in. Will scrape most of the dried wax out, will residue hurt plants?

Well.. hot water might be your friend. Add some clorox to poison it clean. Once sanitized you are good to go. If you mix wax and certain fungus spores and plug them into drilled holes in water soaked logs you can farm mushrooms, so why not farm some bad fungus inadvertantly?
