We had some intense storms roll through parts of Kentucky early this morning with some really strong winds.
It bent a lot of my younger corn over practically to the ground.
The Funny thing is if you look to the right of the younger corn planting, you can see the corn that's tasselling and about 7 feet tall. Not a single stalk of it got blown over, which to me is odd.
In all my years of farming /gardening, im just not familiar with all this wind we have been seeing, I can remember only like one time my family's corn got damaged from wind in 2008, and that was when we had a tornado roll through here. I sure hope it stands back up on its own, as it's not very big/heavy. Several old timers stopped by today to see if I had any damage, and they all say the sun will stand her back up.
I sure hope so cause it's worse than it looks in the picture.

Yes the younger the corn, the more it will stand itself backup because it has more time to do so. You are in fine shape looks like.

You have a beautiful setup friend and I love the garden. You can go out there and stand that corn back up and not wait for phototropism. The corn can use the help and will thank you for it too. Strong wind makes corn plants stronger in the long run.

I thought about doing that.
It's raining here again this morning, keeping me from being able to do anything in the garden.

Happens every year to my corn...but I don't ever recall any permanent damage. I usually help stand it upright with soil packed in the right spots for support, but it stands even without that generally. As mentioned, the more mature, the more help it needs.

Wind is recoverable from with corn but Hail is really tough on it. That's the one I really fear.
