I sprayed with baking soda. Will this get this if the current powdery mildew, or prevent the new leaves from getting the disease?

The mildew comes from lack of air circulation, extreme humidity, excess water etc. I don't think it will cure the existing leaves but the new growth should be OK. I would spray regularly. Be careful of the amount of BS in the spray. It can burn some plants.
