If you look at my other thread: Butternut squash flowering already?

You'll see that my butternut squash is prematurely giving me male flowers. Can anyone guess when the female flowers will appear? Do you know where on the plant it will appear exactly?

All cucurbitaceae (except all-female and parthenocarpic varieties, which are down to human breeding) produce male flowers first; this is nature's way of trying to ensure cross-pollination with a different plant, and is not just normal, it's universal.
Just wait, there'll be female flowers, and enough males to pollinate, in a little while.
