I have a plum tree that in it's 5th year, we had a good crop last year and then we had a lot set this year but the fruit has been going yellow/purple and then dropping off super early.

We've lost a lot of fruit in the last month or so and I'm keen to try and save at least some if we can.

We've been regularly clearing the ground under the tree and have been removing fruits showing signs incase its fungal but it doesn't seem to be making much difference.

Does anyone know what could be causing it and how I can fix it?

As above or lack of water or just resting like my greengage tree that had a super crop last year and very little this year. There is also a thing called the June drop when the tree drops some plums why I do not know. Remember to prune your plum tree in the growing season like now and not in the dormant season like apple trees etc.

I often see claims that the plum is self-pollinating...but in my experience it really benefits from another plum for pollination.

And sometimes even self-pollinating plants have poor pollination due to weather conditions.
