It's a moth pupa, but sorry I don't know which one.

I don't know it either, but the enhanced detail really helps. Yes sometimes we have to wait until they emerge before an ID can be made. It looks fairly small so it shouldn't take more than a few days to emerge.

It's either a Cicada or Spinx Moth pupa. Probably a Spinx Moth. They look very similar.

Thanks Chuck. I think it's phinx-moth, since I never see cicadas in my backyard.

I hardly ever see them either but I hear them all the time. And I only see them as they are being drug away by a cicada killer wasp.
