I received some Klip Dagga seeds from @Martin Mikulcik as throw in with a tobacco seed order. Not knowing anything about how to grow the plant or how to use it, started some seeds in a container for fun. They seem to be doing pretty well so now I need to know what to do with them.

Ask AI:

Klip Dagga (Leonotis nepetifolia), also called lion’s ear or Christmas candlestick, is a tropical herb in the mint family with a long history in traditional medicine.

Klip dagga is best used as a traditional herbal remedy — brewed as tea, applied topically, or used fresh in cooking — for its potential anti-inflammatory, calming, and supportive health effects.

Thinking I will try some Klip Dagga tea. Anyone have experience with this plant?

It's as bitter as wormwood so I'm not a fan of the tea. Said to be anti helminthic similar to tobacco. The flowers/leaves are smoked like tobacco but it's much more of a depressant, makes you tired and in high doses gives you a short lived buzz. The taste isn't bad, maybe even good but definitely acquired.

You'll want to harvest the leaves like tobacco, when they're ripe and some people report the flowers are more potent but the flowers don't really burn on their own

Or a lot of people just grow them for the hummingbirds
