I need help determining what's wrong with my butterfly bush. It was planted in mid-June during a full landscaping project. Watered with drip irrigation. Full sun.

I did notice a Japanese Spotted Lantern Fly on the butterfly bush while taking these pictures, but I don't think that is the source of the problem.

Thanks!

It looks like you may have an insect infestation on the leaves,. Get a strong magnifier and get a look on both sides of the leaves that are discolored.

It might well be spider mites. This is a very strong shrub, and will survive a few insect invasions. If it were in my garden, I would leave it for the butterflies until the flowers fade, and prune it back hard, giving it a good hose down and maybe some pelleted feed like Osmocote.
