What is this Plant/Ground Cover?

Hi. This plant is taking over my lawn. It was originally enclosed inside a planter box by the previous home owner, but five years ago we renovated our yard and the lawn was totally obliterated. Or, so we thought. Now it's spreading everywhere. Not sure what to do, but would like to find out what it is, and then how to dispose of it. Thank you. I appreciate you all taking the time to help me with my problem.

Penny-wort or Dollarweed (Hydrocotyle umbellata). This plant is usually found in aquatic habitats, but if a lawn is well-watered enough, it can also be a lawn weed. Hydrocotyle was once treated as part of the Celery family (Apiaceae), but molecular DNA sequence data has shown that it is actually more closely related to English Ivy and other Araliads (Araliaceae).

It is very hard to get rid of! It sends out runners a huge root system. Any little piece of root will regrow. I have yet to find anything to kill it.
