I love eating fresh strawberries, but I absolutely hate the texture of cooked ones. What do you do with your strawberry bounty?

I make Jam or blend them and drink Strawberry Daqaries. After a drink or two you won't care about the texture

Usually, I have my strawberries with whipped cream. In my opinion it's one of the most delicious desserts in the whole world, I love it:) Strawberries are fruits, so they're healthy and I don't have to feel guilty for eating them:D

OOhh I have a good strawberry dip variation. Try mixing whip cream, cream cheese, and marshmellow fluff together and have this with your strawberries...it is like heaven!

Wow, this really sounds like heaven! I hope I'll be able to harvest more strawberries soon, I really want to try this recipe out. I'm pretty sure marshmallow fluff isn't available in my area, I heard that you can buy it only in the US, but I plan to replace it with regular marshmallows:D

That dip recipe does sound yummy! My family and I usually just eat them fresh and raw. I'm not that partial to them being cooked either although I do at times like them cooked on strawberry shortcake

That's funny, I think I've never eaten any cooked strawberries. I didn't even know that they can be cooked;) I'm not sure if I should give it a try though. I eat most of my fruits and vegetables raw, they're much healhier and tastier this way.

Hmmm, it was my impression that the type of strawberries from a can (that has the glaze/syrup) was heated(?)
I have had that type on strawberry shortcake and while I can eat it, sometimes the texture is too slimy for me.

I think you're right. I'm pretty sure it's not possible to can raw fruits. I want to buy canned strawberries and try them, but I haven't found any yet. I guess they aren't available in stores in my area. I'll try to purchase them online:D

I just eat my strawberries fresh. I will cut them up for cereal or a smoothie, in this house their go so quickly you don't get to do anything else with them. My mother use to make jam when I was younger out of the fruit she grew in the garden.

I cannot grow strawberrys where I live but about 50 miles from me is a place called Poteet Tx. where they have a Strawberry Festival every year. Poteet claims to be the strawberry captial of the world. You can purchase all kinds of stuff made with strawberrys but I think the closest thing to a fresh strawberry that isn't a fresh strawberry is strawberry preserves. Not jam, not jelly, but preserves. I go there every year and buy 50# or so of fresh organic strawberrys and make my own preserves and jelly. I make strawberry syrup for use in a glaze, over ice cream and cheesecake. I freeze them whole for use in pies and tarts. Plus I eat so many I am almost sick of them. All of this is good but nothing is as good a fresh picked straight off of the plant strawberry. During the off season the grocery stores here import strawberrys from Mexico but they are about half green and loaded with chemical pesticides so I have to make do with canned or frozen Organic strawberrys grown by my organic farming friends in Poteet.

I do love strawberries. I like them cut up in salads, eaten out of hand, on ice cream, in milk shake and smoothies, plus I make a wonderful sugar free strawberry pie with them,, of course, it is in a graham cracker crust so it is not completely sugar free.

I make jam and home made ice cream mostly. I will also add them to the odd smoothie, and of course, there's nothing like a bowl of strawberries and cream. :):)

If my glut is particularly huge (as it has been this year and last year) then I will hull them, slice them as thinly as I can, and dry them in my dehydrator. They come out lovely! I can keep them in a glass jar for up to a year without any problem, and they're lovely added to homemade muesli, granola, or reconstituted in a little apple juice to have with home made yogurt. Delicious.

I can really recommend a dehydrator if you tend to have gluts of fruits or veg, and even herbs. There's nothing like being able to enjoy something in winter that you've grown in summer!

Oh, how is it possible that I forgot about dried strawberries? I ate them once, around a year ago, and they were really delicious! It was a great snack. But I didn't dehydrate them by myself, I bought them at a store. Back then, I didn't have a dehydrator.
