I have a garden plot surrounded by 1"chicken wire 4' high and buried 6" deep. The bean plants are at least 6' from the fence. The leaves and stems were chewed off 30" above the ground but any lower. Can't be deer, no hoof prints. Also, no holes in or under the fence. Anyone have an idea what caused the damage?? TYIA

Why would the flea beetles eat only the leaves that are 30" off of the ground? There are plenty of leaves and stems all the way down to the ground.

big rockpile, I hope you did not take my response as being a rude remark. I am just trying to figure out how or why any animal would go for the more difficult leaves and stems rather than the lower hanging vegetation. Sorry if my previous response came off wrong.
