Hello, I was looking for some information on my elephant ear. For some reason it sprouted the leaves on the same side of the corm as the roots. It is a colocasia gigantea and has only reached about a foot tall in 4 months with only one leaf at a time. It is the plant in the large pot...the other is a baby alocasia macrorrhiza. I have it planted in a 24 inch pot filled with miracle grow potted plant mix and the organic mix with compost. I fertilize about every 12 days with jacks classic 20 20 20 and keep it watered regularly but not a swamp. It is kept in partial sun, and the temperature is always between 65 and 85 degrees. Please let me know if anyone has any ideas about what is going on, thank you.

The leaf is ripped from my cat playing with it. I have since moved the plant as they can be toxic if ingested.

The cat also peed in the plant several times, but I removed the soaked soil and soaked the rest of the soil with lots of water to flush it out. Then I put it in the sun to dry for a couple hours every day. That happened about 2 weeks ago.
