Unknown plant sitting in the garden

Hey all, one of my friends found a plant they had never seen before in their garden, neither of us knew what it was. If anyone could help it'd be appreciated.

For me it looks like one of the wild species of Amaranthus, weed. Maybe, Amaranthus retroflexus...

Here we call it Pigweed. It usually grows in the manure pile, so I'm thinking it comes in commercial animal feed. Amaranthus is a pretty good possibility as Amaranth is a grain.
