This spring in North Carolina has been wet to say the least. Usually by Memorial Day my garden is in and I am sitting back watching the deer and rabbits eat my seedlings. This year I’m not even done tilling the garden. 2 weeks ago I tried to till and my tiller sank into the ground (mud). The ground up here is so saturated that I have to use my small mowers to mow because my tractor is leaving deep ruts in the yard. Hopefully things will dry out so I can get some beans going soon.

Before I would use a tiller, I would take a shovel and dig up some dirt from various edges of the garden. If the dirt was drenched, I would not plow.

I feel your pain! I've gone through periods where the ground is just too wet to even get in the garden to pick stuff. Not much you can do after the fact but optimizing your drainage in advance can really help.
