Has anyone ever heard of a sweet pea bush?

The flowers resemble a sweet pea but the plant has canes that are covered in soft type thorns. It spreads under ground. It will grow around 4 feet tall. It's hardy in zone 2 -7.

I found it in a nursery advertisement from the 40's but I lost the catalog and the name. My grandma grew it when I was a child and it has not been seen in my county for at least 40 years.

Any information is appreciated.

It’s not Polygala myrtifolia

Has it got pink flowers? Try Pedleya acanthoclada.... (I think the Pedleya originates in Australia)
